Texas School Administrators’ Legal Digest (Legal Digest) and the Texas Council of Administrators of Special Education (TCASE) are pleased to announce the 32nd annual, one-day conference on current issues concerning the education of students with disabilities. Special education directors and other special education personnel, as well as superintendents, principals, school board members, and school attorneys will find this conference valuable. Topics this year include David’s Law, ARD Protocol, Dyslexia, E-Records and more

The two Q&A segments are now a permanent part of the conference in order to give you an opportunity to interact with all of our speakers!

ACCREDITATION


Attorneys

The Conference is accredited with the State Bar of Texas for 5.0 hours of MCLE credit (no ethics hours). The course sponsor is the Texas School Administrators’ Legal Digest. The course title is “Spring Conference on Special Education Law.” Each attorney must fill out an MCLE sign-in sheet located at the registration desk after the lunch break. The Conference sponsor will submit your hours to the Texas State Bar.

School Board Members

The Legal Digest is a registered provider of school board member training with the Texas Education Agency (TEA). Our provider number is #14-016-B. This Conference provides 5.0 hours of training in the areas of Standard I (Vision), II (Structure), and V (Unity) in the Framework for School Board Development. The Conference sponsor needs to have a record of who is claiming such credit. Pick up a School Board Member Attendance Certificate to provide to your District and sign in at the registration desk after the lunch break.

Administrators Requiring General Management Training

This conference may meet local criteria for 5.0 hours of general management training credit for school administrators. The General Management Training Attendance Certificate is in the workbook for you to keep for your records. For administrators certified in any area after September 1, 1999, see below.

Educators Certified After Sept.1, 1999, In ANY Area, Including Teachers, Principals, Superintendents, Counselors, Educational Diagnosticians, and Learning Resource Specialists

The Legal Digest is a registered provider of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credit with the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC). Our provider number is #500194. The Conference provides 5.0 hours of CPE credit in the field of special education law. Only educators certified in any area after September 1, 1999, need to retain this certificate. The certificate is found in your workbook. Educators must return the Certification of Completion directly to SBEC at the appropriate renewal period in order to obtain credit for attending the Conference.

Charter School Board Members and School Officers

The Legal Digest is a registered provider of charter school board member and school officer training with the Texas Education Agency (TEA). Our provider number is #14-016-B. This Conference provides 5.0 hours of training in the area of special education law. The Conference sponsor needs to have a record of who is claiming such credit. Pick up a Charter School Board Member and School Officer Attendance Certificate to provide to your District and sign in at the registration desk after the lunch break.

Counselors

The Legal Digest has been pre-approved as a provider of continuing education by the Texas Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors. Our LPC provider number is #458. This Conference provides 5.0 hours of continuing education credit for licensed professional counselors. Counselors should sign in at the registration desk after the lunch break and pick up the Certificate of Attendance for Licensed Professional Counselors to retain in their personal files.

Social Workers

The Legal Digest has been pre-approved as a provider of continuing education by the Texas Board of Social Worker Examiners. Our provider number is #6140. This Conference provides 5.0 hours of continuing education credit for licensed social workers. Social workers should sign in at the registration desk after the lunch hour and pick up the Certificate of Attendance for Social Workers to retain in their personal files.

State Board of Examiners of Psychology

The Conference provides 5.0 hours of instruction that may be approved by the State Board of Examiners of Psychology for continuing education credit for persons licensed by the board. Please sign in and pick up a Certificate of Attendance at the registration desk after the lunch break to retain for their personal files.

Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists

The Conference has been approved by the Texas Speech-Language-Hearing Association for 5.0 hours of continuing education credit for speech-language pathologists and audiologists. Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists requiring continuing education credit must do 2 things before leaving the conference: (1) pick up a Verification of Continuing Education form at the registration desk to retain for your personal files and (2) sign the official TSHA sign-in sheet at the registration desk after the lunch break. When signing the TSHA sign-in sheet, you must indicate whether you are a TSHA member, mark the number of hours completed, and include your licensure number. Also, if you’d like to have your hours loaded to the TSHA registry, you must include your TSHA membership number.

Anyone To Whom the Other Training Certificates Do Not Apply

A general Certificate of Attendance is included in your workbook. This certificate may be filed with a professional organization in order to obtain credit if none of the other categories apply.
